Just a quick note about those Lady Gaga concert images.
When I realised I couldnt take my DSLR into the arena my initial thought was to shoot it using a disposable film camera, but then there was the limitations of only being able to shoot 24 frames at 400 ISO and f8 with a relativeley fast shutter speed, overall that idea just ended up not being very appealing to me at all. So i tried to shoot it in as similar way as possible. I borrowed a point and shoot camera i had no experience with from a friend and didn’t practice using it before I got into the arena and in the end I am pretty pleased with my psuedo-film lomo inspired results.
Basically what I learnt from that show was that when you are dealing with a camera which decides most of the factors for you, if there is any point of control you can take, then take it. I locked the camera at 1600ISO, flash turned off (except in the monster paw image), set the metering mode to spot (necessary for shooting any concert in my opinion no matter the camera) and had the auto exposure set to expose the image 1.6 stops under exposed. Granted this meant i had to lift some images in post and bring in more contrast but it gave me the most accurate exposure
